A little bit about MANGO…
Ok..so first off we always get asked why the name MANGO? Well it's been quite the journey but before I get to that, i'll give you the low down on the core team.
Myself, Mo (AKA Boss Man, Papa CEO, Mo $ Money, and a lot of other names Zach conjures up that I can't mention here) meets Nancy, the coolest , charming little lady ever! Nancy is my partner in crime, my side kick, my confident, and most of all my very best friend in the whole wide world. Sidenote...Nancy is an incredibly talented visual artist and award winning Photographer, with a visual arts degree from York University. After I graduated from Ryerson; while working with the my father at his studio I realized it was time to branch off and establish my own biz with my signature brand and style...Sooo, one day while Nancy and I were mucking around with names for our new brand we started writing down letters from our names Mo And Nancy GOvindji….do you see it ?? Well yeah it just jumped out at us, and it's stuck ever since. It was completely unconventional at the time, and had very little to do with wedding photography…which is EXACTLY why we chose it. We were never really wedding photographers. We have always just been passionate artists who photograph really wonderful people. moments, love, laughter and everything that happens in between.
So that was all back in 2002…fast forward 5 years and Zach Herztman ( Aka Zach Hertzmoney$, L'artiste Extraodinaire) comes strolling through the doors at MANGO with a wide range of impressive skills that include balancing a 70-200 L series lens on his head while juggling and singing Johnny Cash renditions, shooting an entire wedding blindfolded with a disposable camera, and a host of other achievements. Zach's photography background stems from his fathers old Nikon camera in the basement, that eventually led him to study the fine arts in London and Montreal. Zach's work has been shown at galleries nationally.
Zach instantly became part of our little family, and a super close friend. His eye for lighting and design are amazing, and the three of us can collaborate and work on projects seamlessly.
The three of us make up for the day to day operations at the studio, with help from our designers and 2nd shooters. So that's just a little bit about us, we would love to meet you in person so come and stop by the gallery and say "Hi".
See you soon,
Mo Govindji
